Dan Michalk

Chief Executive Officer

CFA®, CPA®, ChFC

Dan Michalk is the founder of Waterway Wealth Management and has spent the last 30 years helping clients navigate complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence. A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Dan brings an engineer’s mindset to wealth planning—thoughtful, disciplined, and built for the long term.

Dan earned a Chartered Financial Analyst Designation, CFA, granted by the CFA Institute. The CFA designation is globally recognized and attests to a charterholder’s success in a rigorous and comprehensive study program in the field of investment management and research analysis. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, a designation granted by the CFP® Board of Standards, Denver, Colorado, and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), a designation granted by the American College of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In plain English, this means he’s held to a higher standard as an advisor and is required to excel in the function of his work. Dan is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Dan has called The Woodlands home since 1995 and opened Waterway here in 2012, building the firm around relationships, trust, and a holistic financial planning process known as the Journey to Full Living®

His investment in the community runs deep—from coaching youth baseball and football over the years to serving as Chair of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, where he is now in his fourth year as an officer. He is actively involved with Children’s Safe Harbor, including its 2025 facility expansion, as well as Meals on Wheels, Beloved & Beyond, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Angel Reach, and the Montgomery County Food Bank.

A member of The Woodlands Methodist Church, Dan has served as Chair of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and led confirmation groups for each of his sons. His faith shows up not just on Sundays, but in how he leads and lives each day.

Dan and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 33 years. Together they enjoy spending time with their family of three sons, three daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter, Ellie. Dan also enjoys traveling, running, golf, and listening to live music at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
