ESTATE DOCUMENTS UP TO DATE?

Hi!  I’m Annie Hames, Financial Planner at Waterway Wealth Management.  I’m here to talk about your Estate Planning documents.  This is an uncomfortable conversation that so many of us don’t want to talk about, much less plan for.  We believe an estate plan is an integral part to any financial plan and should be reviewed every year.  When was the last time you reviewed your estate documents?

A comprehensive estate plan should include a Will, a POA, a medial POA, and directives to Physicians with HIPAA release.  Laws change, assets change, and people change and who you chose to be your children’s named guardian ten years ago, may not be the person today you want to make these important decisions.  Similarly, the executor named in your Will could be a friend or relative that is no longer able to serve in this capacity or your children have now reached the age where they could serve in this capacity.  It’s always important to have a named contingent listed on all these documents.

We also believe, it’s important when your children reach age 18, to have a HIPPA Release and Medical POA in case something happens while they’re away from home.

Here at WWM we believe in simplifying, organizing, and executing.
